The Czech Advanced Technology and Research Institute (CATRIN) of Palacký University is a scientific centre focused on cutting-edge research in nanotechnology, biotechnology and biomedicine. The basic building blocks are high-quality scientific teams with a significant representation of foreign scientists, interdisciplinarity, international cooperation and an intensive effort to transfer research results into practice. The Czech Advanced Technology and Research Institute (CATRIN) was established in 2020 as a higher education institute of Palacký University Olomouc. The Institute is comprised of three research centres which build upon the work of the Centre of the Haná Region for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research (CRH), the Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials (RCPTM) and the Institute of Molecular and Translational Medicine (IMTM). These three research centres were established between 2010 and 2013 thanks to the support of the Operational Programme Research and Development of the Ministry of Education.
Job Profile
The Director of the Czech Advanced Technology and Research Institute of Palacký University Olomouc reports to the Rector of Palacký University Olomouc and is responsible for the following:
- The creation and implementation of CATRIN’s strategic plan for creative activity,
- The orderly running of CATRIN, including responsibility for financial management of the Institute,
- The effectiveness of the research groups and their institutional funding,
- An active representation of the Institute nationally and internationally, developing partnerships with academic, industry and government institutions
- The promotion of the quality and innovation of research programmes, including the promotion of interdisciplinary collaboration
- Labor and legal affairs, including labor relations negotiations.
Requirements
- Masters‘s degree,
- Proven experience in top management,
- Previous international experience in research or an academic environment is an advantage,
- Strategic leadership with the ability to develop and build a comprehensive vision and strategy for the Institute,
- International orientation, strong ability to manage in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment,
- Knowledge of issues of university management and research and higher education funding,
- Knowledge of European and national research and development policies,
- High commitment to fund-raising and diversification of resources,
- Experience in the management of research department or in leading larger research projects,
- Experience in academic or scientific environment,
- B2 English knowledge (according to CEFR), spoken and in writing; the knowledge of Czech and another language is an advantage,
- Personal integrity and clean criminal record.
