Who We Are

We are a modern higher education institution with a wide range of study programmes and impressive scholarly output. Over 21,000 students are enrolled in our accredited programmes, we have more than 2,000 academics and researchers and 2,000 non-academic staff working for us.

We are one of the top Czech universities according to international rankings, where UP is also competitive globally.

We are a university comprised of eight faculties, supported by the Rector's Office and university facilities such as the Support Centre for Students with Special Needs, UP Accommodation and Dining Facilities, and the Science and Technology Park. These are complemented by the CATRIN university institute, which brings together scientific experts in the fields of biomedicine, nanotechnology, new materials, plant research, and biotechnology with state-of-the-art facilities.

We are one of the founding members of the Aurora European university alliance, we are building a community of entrepreneurs in our UP Business Club, and last but not least we are a Fair and Sustainable University.

We are enlivening public spaces (the Majáles May Student Festivities), bringing science and education to the general public (University of the Third Age, Fort Science), and collaborating with the non-profit sector. We have our own endowment fund, are proud of our alumni, and play an important social role (Citizens’ University, Volunteering Centre).
